Clues from a Poker Player
Ever noticed during a game of poker, how some players' attitudes would start to change in the middle of the game? Like some of the times, they would start raising their voice or changing the loudness of their voice depending on the strength or weakness of the hand that they possess? Or that some other players would look particularly disinterested or indifferent about their cards or of their next move? All these can be used as clues by other players in order to get an idea or to gather a certain amount of information regarding the other player's hand and next plan of action, whether he would be bluffing, and the like.
Apart from some facial expressions and anxious behavior, one can also observe the hands of the other poker players at the table. Do they start to tremble as a reaction to a certain instance? Trembling hands are also a result of anxious behavior or anxiety so this nervousness could mean that the player's hands shake because they could bear or possess a strong hand and are trying to control their excitement upon being ready to be confronted. Try also to observe a player's mannerism of glancing at chips now and again. It is certainly usual for most players to glance very briefly now and again, at their chips upon connecting with the board just after having a flop for instance. This type of reaction is usually not noticed by the player who is doing it as it is most likely a subconscious reaction.
Other players, on the other hand, may have a glance at the hole cards that they possess when the there is a potential for a three card flush draw on the board. Basically, a player would be looking at the cards to surmise whether his cards connect due to the fact that he knows that only two cards are of varying suits. Some other players would convey betting patterns which are repetitive. Most times, the tell-tale signs that reveal the most information are the manners in which a player would place wagers habitually given certain situations. Same can be observed from other players' body posture and attitude in a game. Always try to look at the body postures and attitudes of the players that you are with on the table and see how their attitudes and postures would change from time to time. It's a bit like reading the weather isn't it? Even the way or manner that players would stack their chips is certainly something to take into consideration. Observe whether a player is aggressive upon seeing his sloppy stack, or whether he is tight and conservative by noticing his neat stacks. Of course, this is just a generalization.
Many tell-tale signs of poker players are needed to be taken into consideration as they could provide you with clues on what is on your opponent's mind.
